Day 5 Leslie Saeta 30 Paintings In 30 Days Challenge

New Year's Eve I was at home (thank goodness) and I joined Leslie Saeta's 30 Day Challenge.  It was an impulse that only took one click. Yikes!  Not only are we challenged to produce a painting every day, we are also challenged to post it for sale with a price.  It's a huge step for me but you don't get very far if you don't take a single step.
I really struggle with my art.  As  a relatively new my retirement...I am finally pursuing a life long interest that stayed on the back shelf way too long.  It is somewhat "embarrassing" to be so vulnerable to put stuff out there that you've created....when what you see is everything that is wrong with it.  That is why it is such a big step for me.
Now, for balance and encouragement, I will share this too.  It was flat-out shocking to me but I sold a painting over Christmas!  My Olive Tree oil painting hung in our local county fine arts holiday show the month of December.  When I picked up my four entries this week, I found that one had sold.  You could have knocked me over with a feather.  Really?  Best news of was bought by someone I did not know.  Not a sympathy purchase at all.  And, I hear, she would have paid whatever I'd asked. Said she 'had to have it'.   She wanted it that badly.  Again I say, "Really"?  Here is a photo of it.
Is there anything you really want to do?  Like sing or dance or paint or cook or call someone or apply for a job or go back to school or learn calculus or say 'I'm sorry' or 'I love you'....or whatever...go ahead and do it.  It sounds trite but it does start with a small step.

It is snowing here in the deep south just a little.
