How I Ended Up With A Personal Trainer

Very simple answer to that one.  I got sucked in!  Ever happened to you?  You run into a super, good salesman who pulls out all the tricks on you?  And he probably does really believe in what he is selling too.  And you really do actually need what he is selling!  It just wasn't in your plan to purchase it.  Well, that is exactly what happened to me.

For the last seven months I've been a gym rat without a gym.  "My gym" closed.  I think they went bankrupt.  What a shock!  Anyway, one morning I'm ready to jump into my Kickboxing Class only to find the doors locked and signs all over the place.

The good thing was, the really good thing, was I had no contract with them.  I did not lose a penny.  But I did lose my gym life...the classes I like, the instructors I love, the friends I sweated it out with day in and day out.  Gone!  All of it!

I kept thinking they would work things out.  All of us held on as long as we could, then slowly we began trying out new places trying to replace what we had.  My greatest glimmer of hope was a new studio gym just for classes opened by Lucy, my favorite Zumba instructor, so I went there.  A few times.  Then I had to admit it was just too far, so back to square one.

Finally I just gave up on re-creating what we had and joined Anytime Fitness right near my house.  Good classes so far, so it'll work.  I got the one-time free training they include and that session just went so well.  Long story short, he was just too charming for me to say no, and he had all the answers to turning my 7 month fat gain into muscle, strong bones, and health.

So that is how I ended up with a personal trainer once a week for six months.  Here's the zinger.  HE is not my trainer!  HE is the salesman.  Well, yeah...I can see that.  So I have a sweet young girl putting me through my paces once a week and the rest is up to me.

Goal:  Lose 15 pounds of fat.  Gain 10 pounds of muscle.  Net weight loss:  5 pounds.  And the right 5 pounds.  I am excited and I'll work hard and keep you posted!  Today's Spin Class was a doozy but I must admit I loved every minute of it and I already feel strong enough to be on a Wheaties box!

Exercise is good.  We all know that. If you aren't exercising, for whatever reason, consider giving it a go.  There are so many ways to get it in...certainly not just at the gym.  Let me know what works for you!

  1. I used to love to exercise too! Maybe a little too much. I was obsessed and because of that and years of waitressing both knees had to be replaced. So, now all I can do is swim or ride a bike. I do what I can when I can. I think all those aerobics back in the 80's & 90's did not help either. Thanks for stopping by my blog and I came over and found out I was following you already on GFC but I did follow on Facebook. If you can, I would love a follow there. Thanks for all your help and thanks for coming by. Have a great weekend.
