KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid

It's not that I am always trying to take the easy way out.  It's just that I like simplicity.  For me, simple is best.  Over the years I have become more and more of a minimalist.  Whether it is decorating, cooking, shopping, or clothes I prefer that which is simple.  When things start getting excessive or over the top, I start getting the heeby jeebies!

I have several friends who are the opposite.  Their homes are gorgeous with extravagant furnishings.  Their recipes are complicated with ingredients I don't have.  Their wardrobes are exciting and extensive.

I have two umbrellas, a black one and a navy one.  That's pretty dull even for me but they keep me dry.  When one breaks, I may replace it with a hot pink one but two umbrellas is plenty.

These are my friend's umbrellas. Makes my collection look rather pitiful, huh? And she says, "The following umbrellas are missing: July 4th, zebra, Falcons, Lancome, and my favorite--Barbie, which reads," I want to be Barbie. The girl has everything." I love being around her, the flair, the color, the fun.

Speaking of keeping it simple, I made a simple recipe for Christmas goodies yesterday and everybody loves them.  All you do is this.  Place mini pretzels on a cookie sheet.  Top each pretzel with a Rolo candy.  Place in a 350 degree oven for 3 minutes or so until the candy is soft but before it gets to be messy.  Take out of the oven and press a pecan half into the Rolo.  Now the candy is more flat looking.  Let them cool and set up before removing from cookie sheet.  These are so good and simple.  Better grab one.  They won't last long!

Merry Christmas!

  1. Well, the umbrella story is interesting. Love the receipe, looks too good! My downfall. If it looks like chocolate, it goes into my mouth. Blessings.

  2. I had to laugh at your story about the umbrellas - despite the fact that I use two crutches and therfore never have a free hand so many people think an unbrella makes an ideal present for me.

Love the look of your Christmas goodies by the way -yummy.

  3. Sandra I'm with you on the KISS approach to life. Things can get far to complicated otherwise and I certainly don't have the time to be matching my umbrella to my outfit. Now those sweets on the other hand, they look worth the 10 minutes to make!
